From the official Classic Rock Show website:

When and where were you born?
Nottingham, February 1970.

When did you start to play
I started to play bass at the age of 14. I actually joined a band at school before I even had a bass and kept making excuses why I couldn't rehearse until I acquired one!

Tell us about some of your previous projects
I landed my first professional gig at age 20 with the iconic British thrash metal band Sabbat which featured now-acclaimed metal producer Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Killswitch Engage) on guitar. Self-taught for my first six years of playing, I then studied in London with session aces Joe Hubbard and Rob Burns, eventually graduating with a Bachelor of Music degree from The London College of Music in 2001. I played bass for Robin Gibb's solo band from 2003 up until the Bee Gee legend's tragic death in 2012. Gaining vast experience of worldwide touring, recording, TV and radio appearances. I feature on Robin's 2004 CD/DVD release ‘Robin Gibb Live with the Neue Philarmonie Frankfurt Orchestra', 2005 double CD release ‘Robin Gibb Magnet tour edition' and 2011 release ‘Robin Gibb Live with The Danish National Orchestra'. I've also recorded and toured with legendary producer Micky Most at RAK studios, prog rock band Brazen Abbot featuring ex-Rainbow front-man Joe Lynn Turner, original AC/DC front-man Dave Evans, ex-Iron Maiden front-man Blaze Bayley and New York metal band Holy Mother. I've recently toured with Saxon and Persian Risk. I also write and record TV incidental and theme music, and have just released a new album on Massacre records under the band name ‘Messiah's Kiss'.

Who are your influences
My earliest influence was my bass playing uncle, Johnny Mayhem. He got me listening to all the great bass players of the time, John Entwistle, Jack Bruce and Jaco Pastorius. Later I was very influenced by Steve Harris, Flea, Rocco Prestia and Billy Sheehan.

If you had to take one album to your desert island, what would it be and why
Probably ‘Recurring Dream, the very best of Crowded House'. It's mine and my heavy metal playing brother's guilty pleasure.

What gear do you tour with (updated September 2020)
78' Fender Precision, 68' Fender Jazz bass. Yamaha fretless bass. Ampeg SVT Pro 3, 2 x 2x10 SVT VR Speakers. Pedaltrain pedalboard with TC Electronic Tuner, Origin Cali 76 Bass compressor, Two Sansamp DI units, Billy Sheehan signature EBS overdrive pedal. Westone ES50 in ear monitors. Rotosound bass strings.

One obscure interesting fact about yourself
I've done two gigs at ‘The Kremlin, Moscow!

In September 2020 Wayne added, “I’m also working on a new Carl Sentance from Nazareth’s new solo album at the moment :) “
